Kwara State University of Education Names First Acting Vice Chancellor: Prof. Medinat Salman

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has appointed Prof. Medinat Folorunsho Salman as the first-ever Acting Vice Chancellor of the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED), located in Ilorin.

A distinguished expert in mathematics education, Prof. Salman previously served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Science Education and as the coordinator of the Educational Technology Centre at the University of Ilorin. Her academic journey began at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she earned a Bachelor of Education in 1985. She later obtained her Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Ilorin in 1990, followed by a PhD in the same field in 1998. Prof. Salman also holds the distinction of being the first female professor from the Ilorin Emirate.

Her extensive research includes topics such as mathematics education, gender disparities in math and science education, and educational advancements in developing nations. Prof. Salman’s appointment, which takes effect immediately, was confirmed in an official statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Tuesday.
