PDP to Challenge Edo Governorship Election Results Amid Fraud Allegations

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to contest the recent governorship election results in Edo State, claiming their mandate has been “stolen.” This announcement follows the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.

Party leaders pointed to significant irregularities in the electoral process, citing support from civil society organizations like Yiaga Africa and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD). These groups raised concerns over the integrity of the election, highlighting issues such as voter intimidation, unclear results, and instances of over-voting.
