Enugu Residents Urge Governor Mbah to Address Erosion Crisis Impacting Only Access Road

Residents of the Agu Umabor community in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, have urgently appealed to Governor Peter Mbah for support as severe gully erosion has destroyed their only access road, leaving them cut off from the rest of the state.

In a statement released on Monday, Abonyi Gilbert Emeka and Ogbu Christopher, President and Secretary General of the Agu Umabor Elites Group, highlighted the dire situation and the need for government intervention.

“We wish to draw attention to the deplorable condition of the Agu Umabor-Eha-Alumona-Breme-Mbu-Ikem road in Nsukka Local Government Area,” the statement read.

The group noted that they had previously reached out to the governor earlier this year, urging him to address the erosion before it completely severed their access.

“Agu Umabor is a law-abiding community with a population of about 100,000 people. We are primarily farmers, and this road is essential for transporting our agricultural produce and goods,” they stated.

The community continues to call for urgent assistance from both the Enugu State Government and concerned individuals, warning that without immediate action, the road may not withstand the remainder of the rainy season.
