Nigerian Army Eliminates Terrorist Leader Munzur Ya Audu in Yobe

Troops from the Nigerian Army have dealt a significant blow to terrorist groups by killing the notorious commander, Munzur Ya Audu, in Yobe State. This major development was confirmed during a press briefing by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, in Abuja on Thursday.

The military’s ongoing efforts to target and dismantle terrorist operations in the region have intensified, with forces focusing on key logistical bases and structures linked to terror organizations. According to Major General Buba, the army aims to disrupt the terrorists’ ability to carry out further attacks and weaken their networks.

Alongside the elimination of Ya Audu, the troops made a major recovery, seizing a large cache of weapons and ammunition. The haul included 145 assorted firearms and 3,825 rounds of ammunition, which featured heavy weapons such as one GPMG, two PKT guns, 68 AK47 rifles, two AK56 rifles, 24 fabricated rifles, 28 Dane guns, six locally made pistols, one RPG bomb, and various explosives. This significant seizure will help curb the capacity of terror groups in the region.
