Gov. Dauda Lawal Challenges Matawalle to Resign and Address Allegations

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has called on Bello Matawalle, his predecessor and the current Minister of State for Defence, to resign and clear his name amidst the serious allegations leveled against him during his tenure as governor.

Among the accusations is Matawalle’s alleged involvement with bandits, which he has firmly denied. However, Governor Lawal, during a Wednesday night appearance on TVC, suggested that if Matawalle still possessed any integrity, he should step down to address these claims head-on.

Lawal recounted a disturbing incident where the Zamfara State government house was allegedly used to facilitate the payment of ransom for the kidnapped children of a state permanent secretary. He went further to claim that bandits were being sheltered at the government house.

“If I were him (Matawalle), I would resign and face all the allegations against me,” Lawal stated. “It’s dishonorable to continue serving as Minister of Defence with such serious accusations hanging over him.”
