87 New Senior Advocates to Be Sworn In by Chief Justice Kekere-Ekun

As part of the official celebrations for the 2024/2025 legal year, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to swear in 87 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) on Monday. The ceremony will take place in the main courtroom of the Supreme Court.

In a statement released by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Festus Akande, the Chief Justice will also deliver a state-of-the-judiciary address, focusing on the performance of the Supreme Court and the Nigerian judiciary during the 2023/2024 legal year.

Prominent figures in the justice sector, including the Honorable Attorney General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), are expected to present speeches discussing the current state of the nation’s justice system.

The Supreme Court began its annual vacation on July 22, 2024, and although the court resumed sitting on September 23, 2024, the formal new legal year ceremony will be held in line with tradition.

The activities marking the commencement of the new legal year will kick off at 10:00 AM in the Supreme Court’s main courtroom, as noted in the announcement.
