Tinubu Reappoints Prof. Samson Duna as NBRRI Director General for Second Term

President Tinubu confirmed the reappointment of Prof. Samson Duna to continue his role as Director General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI). The decision, made public through a statement by Mr. Peter Mashem, Deputy Director of Information at NBRRI, comes with a new four-year term.

The reappointment was officially conveyed in a letter from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

Prof. Duna, who has held the position since his initial appointment in 2020, is a highly respected Professor of Civil Engineering from Billiri Local Government in Gombe State. He is also a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

With a strong presence in professional circles, Prof. Duna holds memberships in prestigious organizations such as the Nigerian Institute of Engineering Management (MNIEM), the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE). His leadership extends beyond Nigeria as a Council Member of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and a key figure on the Industrial/Sectorial Board of the Regional Transport Research and Education Centre (TRECK) in Kumasi, Ghana.

As Prof. Duna embarks on his second term, his extensive experience and dedication to advancing engineering and infrastructure research in Nigeria will be crucial for NBRRI’s continued progress.
