Customs Chief Honors Late COAS, Lagbaja for His Dedication to National Security

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, has praised the late Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, for his exceptional dedication to national security. Adeniyi described Lagbaja’s leadership as one marked by immense commitment and sacrifice, highlighting the significant loss his passing represents for Nigeria.

In a statement released on Thursday by the NCS spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, Adeniyi expressed deep condolences to Lagbaja’s family, the military, and the entire nation. He emphasized that the late COAS was not just a leader to the Armed Forces but a steadfast figure whose contributions resonated across all sectors of society.

In recognition of Lagbaja’s impact, the NCS announced the postponement of its Gala and Award Night, initially set for Friday in Abuja. “The NCS recognizes the weight of this moment; we stand together in grief and honor the memory of a leader who devoted his life to serving our country,” said Adeniyi.

The late General Lagbaja, who passed away on November 5 following a brief illness, was laid to rest on Friday in Abuja after his remains were returned from Lagos. His passing has left a profound impact on the military and the broader national security landscape.
