Published

Jigawa State has announced a significant pay increase for its civil servants. Starting from December 1, 2024, all state employees will receive a minimum wage of N70,000. This new pay structure, approved by Governor Umar Namadi, is set to improve the financial well-being of workers across the state.

The news was confirmed by the Governor’s Special Adviser on New Media, Muhammad Garba, who shared the update through his official Facebook account on Wednesday.

The announcement follows earlier discussions where the state’s NLC (Nigeria Labour Congress) had raised concerns about the delay in the start date for the minimum wage increase. In response to these concerns, Governor Namadi finalized the decision to implement the new wage by December.

The approval also comes after an earlier controversy, when the Governor had suspended his Special Adviser on Salary and Pension, Bashir Ado, for prematurely announcing the N70,000 wage increase without proper authorization.
