NDLEA Relocates to Modern Headquarters in Abuja

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially moved into its new headquarters located in the Jahi area of Abuja. This milestone signifies a major step forward in the agency’s modernization efforts, with the first phase of the headquarters project now complete. Full completion is anticipated by the end of 2025, supported by funding in the national budget.

The announcement was made on November 26, 2024, during an interdenominational service held to commemorate the relocation. Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, shared details of the ceremony, which was attended by senior officials and key stakeholders.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), NDLEA’s Chairman and CEO, described the move as a vital shift in the agency’s journey toward becoming a results-driven anti-narcotics organization. Highlighting the timeline of the project, he noted that construction began in January 2021 despite facing initial budgetary challenges. By the close of 2024, the facility was operational enough to consolidate directorates that were previously scattered across different locations outside Abuja.

Marwa emphasized that the former headquarters on Gimbiya Street in Garki would still function as a secondary office, ensuring uninterrupted operations as the new facility becomes fully operational.

Expressing his gratitude, Marwa acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering support in strengthening the NDLEA’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse nationwide. He also thanked international partners, local stakeholders, and his predecessor, who initiated the process of securing the new headquarters.
