Adeboye Warns: Without Divine Intervention, $1 Could Have Reached ₦10,000

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), recently shared his concerns about Nigeria’s economic challenges, warning that without divine intervention, the exchange rate could have surged to ₦10,000 to $1. Speaking at the Special Holy Ghost Congress in Abuja, Adeboye highlighted the nation’s financial struggles, attributing much of them to the reliance on fuel imports despite Nigeria’s status as a major oil producer.

He sharply criticised the billions spent on non-functional refineries that continue to force the country into dependency on imported petrol. “We waste billions on refineries that don’t work, and yet we keep importing petrol,” Adeboye remarked.

The pastor also touched on the controversial removal of fuel subsidies, noting that it upset those who had benefited from the previous system. This, he said, contributed to further economic instability. “We need help, and it’s not human help; it’s divine help,” Adeboye stressed, underlining the importance of prayer for the nation’s recovery.

Reflecting on the naira’s ongoing devaluation, Adeboye expressed gratitude for the prayers of many. He cautioned that without God’s intervention, the value of the naira could have fallen even further, with $1 potentially equaling ₦10,000 by now. “This shows how much we need prayers,” he concluded.
