Edo Poll Results: Ighodalo Thanks Supporters for Their Sacrifices

In the aftermath of the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, the candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed heartfelt gratitude to his supporters, promising that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.

As reported by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ighodalo secured 247,274 votes, finishing second to Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 291,667 votes. Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party (LP) followed in a distant third, with only 22,763 votes.

Despite characterizing the election results as a “theft of mandate,” Ighodalo celebrated the unwavering support of his followers, stating, “You are the true heroes of our democracy, and your sacrifices for a better Edo State will never be forgotten.” He emphasized that their “overwhelming support was evident in the ballots” and lamented how progress was “unjustly halted on September 21, 2024, by those who do not have the best interests of you or our state at heart.”
