Freedom at Last: Zamfara University Students and Staff Released After Seven Months in Captivity

After enduring seven harrowing months in captivity, students and staff members of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State have finally been freed. They were kidnapped by armed bandits in February during a violent attack on their off-campus hostels. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed their release on Monday, though the specifics of how they were freed remain unclear. However, sources indicate that security forces played a vital role in their rescue.

The abduction took place in the early hours, around 4:00 AM, when bandits stormed the Gusau area. Most of the victims were female students taken from their accommodations in Sabon Gida village. This traumatic incident sent shockwaves through the university community and deeply affected the families of those abducted.
