JAMB to Automate Services, Reduce Physical Interactions with Applicants

Published

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to fully automate its services to minimize physical interactions with applicants. This decision, according to JAMB’s Registrar and Chief Executive, Professor Ish-aq Oloyede, is driven by the fact that many candidates who take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are underage.

In a bulletin published on JAMB’s website, Oloyede emphasized that limiting face-to-face interactions aims to prevent issues of extortion and exploitation, while improving service delivery. The board plans to handle challenges online, with recorded calls to ensure quality control and monitoring.

Oloyede also revealed that JAMB has received reports of questionable practices at various CBT centers, and a team has been deployed to investigate these claims. He encouraged students who have experienced extortion to come forward with credible evidence, assuring that any staff involved will face legal consequences.
