Jumoke Orisaguna Opens Up About Struggles After Fame Faded

Olajumoke Orisaguna, better known as the Lagos bread seller who gained fame in 2016, opened up about her struggles after her rise to stardom faded. After years of obscurity, she is now making a remarkable return to the spotlight, this time in the world of broadcasting.

Jumoke’s journey began when renowned photographer TY Bello discovered her while she was selling bread on the streets of Lagos. Recognizing her potential, TY Bello turned her into a model, leading to national fame and magazine covers. However, her fame took a devastating downturn four years ago, after she allegedly fell victim to a fraudulent scheme orchestrated by her former manager.

“I really suffered and lost everything,” Jumoke shared during a meet-and-greet event hosted by the Cardinal Foundation. She explained how her former manager misled her into paying for expenses like flights and accommodation during a trip to South Africa. Upon returning to Nigeria, the manager gave her only N50,000, leaving her financially stranded.

In the midst of this hardship, Jumoke revealed how she had to beg for food. “I started calling people for food. It was Aunty Azuka and TY Bello who came to my rescue,” she said, describing how her close friends stepped in when she had nothing. Azuka Ogujiuba, the CEO of Media Room Hub, even paid her rent and provided food and financial support for her daughters during the difficult times.

Despite the strain caused by her former manager’s interference, Jumoke expressed deep gratitude for the support she received from TY Bello and Azuka Ogujiuba, who never turned her away, even when resources were limited.

In an effort to help Jumoke get back on her feet, Azuka Ogujiuba sought the assistance of Mrs. Adedoja Allen, the CEO of City FM and founder of Cardinal Foundation. Through this partnership, Jumoke has been given an opportunity to rebuild her life, transitioning into broadcasting.
