Kwara Sets 2024/2025 WAEC Fee at N30,250, Warns Against Illegal Charges

Kwara State Government has announced the official fee for the 2024/2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams, pegging it at N30,250 per student. The fee includes N27,000 for WAEC charges and an additional N3,250 for e-registration and administrative costs.

The announcement was made by Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, the state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, during a meeting with principals from senior secondary schools. The gathering marked the beginning of the WAEC registration process at Saint Anthony’s Secondary School in Ilorin.

In a statement, Peter Amogbonjaye, the Press Secretary for the Ministry of Education, emphasized the government’s stance against any form of extortion during the registration process. Modibbo-Kawu issued a strong warning to school principals, urging them to comply with the approved fees and refrain from charging any additional amounts. “The Ministry will not tolerate extra charges beyond the approved fees, and anyone found guilty of extortion will face consequences,” she stated.

The Commissioner further recognized the contributions of principals in shaping the future of the state and fostering strong relationships with the Ministry to improve education standards. She also appealed for continued support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, which remains dedicated to improving the welfare of both teachers and citizens.

In support of the government’s efforts, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, Chairman of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, commended the Governor for advancing the state’s education sector. He also highlighted the improvements made in teachers’ welfare.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Olanrewaju Bake, praised the Governor’s relentless focus on education and urged teachers to remain committed to their roles.

  • WAEC Charges: N27,000
  • E-registration Charges: N1,250
  • Administrative Charges: N2,000
  • Total Fees: N30,250

The President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Kwara State Wing, Mohammad Baba, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for enhancing the education system through school renovations and ensuring the timely payment of salaries and teacher promotions. Baba assured that teachers in the state would continue to work diligently to uphold their professional responsibilities.
