Osun Youths Rally for Subsidy Reinstatement Amid #October1Protest

Youths in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, took to the streets on October 1, 2024, as part of the nationwide #October1Protest, demanding the reversal of the fuel subsidy removal. Carrying placards with messages aimed at President Bola Tinubu, the protesters urged the government to reinstate the subsidy, which they argue is crucial for easing the skyrocketing cost of living, especially rising food prices.

Starting their march from Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in the Old Garage area, the demonstrators passed through key parts of the city, including Oke-Fia, Dada Estate, and Dele Yes Sir. Their route took them along Oba Adesoji Aderemi Way before reaching their final destination at the Olaiya flyover junction.

Throughout the protest, participants sang solidarity songs, emphasizing their call for economic relief, while security forces maintained order. Dubbed #FearlessInOctober, the protest is a continuation of the #EndBadGovernance movement that took place earlier this year, reflecting the growing frustration among Nigerians over the country’s worsening economic situation.
