Senator Urges Tinubu to Resolve Wike-Fubara Dispute in Rivers State

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, has voiced serious concerns about the rising political tensions in Rivers State, calling on President Bola Tinubu to step in. She stated that the ongoing conflict between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is harming the interests of Rivers residents and requires urgent presidential attention.

In a statement issued by her Chief Press Secretary, Arogbonlo Israel, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized the need for Tinubu to ensure that Wike concentrates on his federal responsibilities, thereby allowing Governor Fubara—elected by the people of Rivers—to govern according to the Constitution.

She noted that the ongoing crisis has already led to violence, intimidation, and allegations of electoral malpractice, which threaten the region’s peace and stability.

Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the President to take immediate measures to safeguard innocent lives and foster peace in the area. She warned that if the conflict persists, it could lead to further destabilization and pose a significant risk to Nigeria’s democracy and national security.
