Tinubu Hails Port Harcourt Refinery Revival, Calls for Reactivation of Warri and Kaduna Refineries

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited on the successful revitalization of the Port Harcourt Refinery. In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu emphasized the importance of expanding Nigeria’s refining capacity and called for the prompt reactivation of both the second Port Harcourt refinery and the Warri and Kaduna refineries.

Tinubu acknowledged the significant role played by former President Muhammadu Buhari in initiating the rehabilitation process of the country’s refineries, which is essential for boosting Nigeria’s domestic production of refined petroleum products. The President also expressed his gratitude to the African Export-Import Bank for their support in financing this key project.

Furthermore, the President commended the leadership of Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, for his determination and dedication in overcoming various challenges to achieve the successful revival of the Port Harcourt refinery.

With the completion of this milestone, President Tinubu has urged NNPC to maintain the momentum and prioritize the reactivation of the Warri and Kaduna refineries, which are critical for improving Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products.
