Interim Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen, has confirmed there is “No rift between Ilechukwu and Ogunmodede” despite recent tensions following their Nigeria Premier Football League clash. The statement comes as a relief to fans, easing concerns about the relationship between the assistant coaches, Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu.

The pair, who have enjoyed a positive working relationship over the years, found themselves at odds after Remo Stars’ 2-1 victory over Enugu Rangers in Ikenne. Ilechukwu, frustrated with the outcome, criticized Ogunmodede for his aggressive push for victory during the match. In response, Ogunmodede attributed Ilechukwu’s disappointment to the nature of the loss.

This public back-and-forth sparked worry among football enthusiasts, especially with both coaches needing to collaborate for Nigeria’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
